Diabetes and Obesity

Individuals who are overweight have a greater risk of developing diabetes because insulin levels are much more difficult for the body to regulate.  The number of diabetes cases among American adults jumped by 33% during the 1990's, this rapid increase is due to the growing prevalence of obesity in the United States.  Approximately 90% of all people with type 2 diabetes are overweight.

Obesity has been linked to several other conditions including:
Heart Disease
Stroke
High Blood Pressure
Certain types of Cancer
Respiratory Problems
Orthopedic Problems
Sleep Apnea
Infertility
Dyslipidemia
